Michael and Julia -Our Story

The Story of Our Courtship

Michael & Julia

January 2003 until Forever

Michael and Julia - A Brief Synopsis
Michael and I married in January 2003! Being my best friend, Mike and I have been talking and planning to be married all summer, but he officially proposed to me on August 30, 2002. We've been friends for several years, and lost touch for a while, and then in April 2002 we got back in touch again, and had been inseparable ever since, so to speak. (He lived in Texas, I lived in Florida.) I moved here with him in January 2003, after our wedding. Our story as listed at one of our wedding registry sites reads as follows:

HOW WE MET
We met in a Christian chatroom several years ago, as channel moderators, and became friends, but in a few short months things blossomed into a beautiful romance from God. Mike is my best friend, and I am so thankful that he is in my life. One night back in April 2002 he asked a mutual friends of ours for my instant messenger name since I had a new one, and since then, Mike and I have been "inseparable" so to speak. We finally met in person in the beginning of August 2002, and knew that God had set us apart for one another from that first moment, after months of prayer and seeking. Our courtship was a bit fast, but when you know, you just know. I always heard that, and now I finally believe it!

WHEN WE GOT ENGAGED
August 30, 2002, Labor Day Weekend, at my parents' house in Florida

HOW IT HAPPENED
In leiu of the sunset, which was rudely interrupted by a Florida storm, we went out for ice cream at a local ice cream shop. When we arrived back at my family's house, my parents were still out, so we went to sit on the porch. While I phoned my roommate to tell her about our upcoming visit to my college the next day, Mike played on our exercise equipment, apparently impatiently, unbeknownst to me. When I hung up the phone, he pulled me to my feet from where I was sitting, and said "I didn't plan on doing this this way, but..." and then proceeded to fall to one knee. "Julia, will you marry me?" he asked, and I began to laugh and cry a lil bit, and then he asked if that was a "yes," and I said "Hmm, let me think about it," and then said "Of course! YES!" And then he placed a BEAUTIFUL 1/4 carat, pear-shaped, white gold ring on my finger - just what I've always wanted!!!

Does the fairytale end here? No!!!
Michael and I are happily living in Texas now, and are looking forward to our love touching others. We adore the smiles that our story brings to people when we share, and we pray that God will reveal His love to any who think this is not a plausible way to meet someone. Michael and I were not looking for each other; we were not searching for romance: we were good friends who happened to meet in an unconventional way, and God took us from there. We are so very thankful for everyone who has loved and supported us throughout this time!!! God bless you!
